Finding the right note should take seconds, not minutes. Bloc’s search palette lets you search across every note you’ve written — by title, tag, or body content — and narrow the results with date and tag filters. Whether you’re looking for something you wrote this morning or a note from last month tagged project, the tools on this page will help you find it fast. Press Cmd+K on Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux to open the search command palette from anywhere in the app. Start typing and Bloc searches:
  • Note titles — matches any word in the title
  • Tags — matches the note’s tag label
  • Note body — matches text inside the note content
Results update instantly as you type. Each result shows the note title and its tag (if it has one).
Combine a date filter with a tag filter to zero in on exactly the note you need. For example, filter to Week and the tag meeting to find all notes from this week’s meetings at a glance.

Actions on search results

Every result row in the search palette has an ⋯ (ellipsis) menu on the right side. Click it to access note actions without leaving the palette:

Open

Click anywhere on the result row itself to open the note in the editor.

Rename

Select Rename from the ⋯ menu to edit the note’s title. A dialog opens with the current title pre-filled. Edit and press Enter or click Save.

Delete

Select Delete from the ⋯ menu to permanently remove the note. A confirmation dialog asks you to verify before deletion.

Date filters

Click the filter icon (sliders) inside the search palette to reveal the filter panel. Under Date, choose one of five time windows: Selecting a date filter immediately trims the result list. Click Clear in the filter panel to reset all filters at once.

Tag filters

When the filter panel is open, a Tag row appears below the date chips — but only if at least one note in your library has a tag. Click any tag chip to filter results to notes that share that tag. Click All tags to remove the tag filter. Date and tag filters stack — applying both at the same time shows only notes that match the chosen date range and the chosen tag.

Search on mobile

On mobile, tap the Search tab in the bottom navigation bar to open the dedicated search screen. It works exactly like the desktop palette — type to search, tap the filter icon to open the filter panel, and tap any result to open the note.
