Because Bloc is a Progressive Web App (PWA), you can install it directly from your browser onto any device — no App Store, no Google Play, no waiting for an update to download. Once installed, Bloc gets its own icon on your home screen or taskbar, opens in a clean full-screen window without browser chrome, and works offline right away. It updates silently in the background whenever you’re connected, so you’re always on the latest version without doing a thing.
Safari on iPhone and iPad is the recommended browser for installing Bloc on Apple devices.

Open Bloc in Safari

Launch Safari and navigate to bloc.so. Sign in if you haven’t already. Make sure you’re using Safari — iOS currently only supports PWA installation from Safari.

Tap the Share button

Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen (the box with an arrow pointing upward). On iPad, the Share button is in the top toolbar.

Tap Add to Home Screen

Scroll through the share sheet and tap Add to Home Screen. You can edit the app name if you wish.

Tap Add

Tap Add in the top-right corner to confirm. The Bloc icon will appear on your home screen immediately.
After installation, open Bloc from your home screen icon rather than from Safari. This launches the app in standalone mode with more screen space and a smoother experience.
After your first visit to Bloc in any browser, a service worker caches the app shell and your notes locally. This means Bloc loads and works fully offline — even if you open it before the icon has been installed.
You don’t need to install Bloc at all to use it. The full app works in any modern browser tab. Installation is optional and just makes launching Bloc more convenient.
